 The Plot
« Thread Started on Feb 27, 2006, 7:23am »

It started with a single flash. A bright surge against the dark clouds that cut across the skies. A single raindrop fell from the heavens that day, simple and dutiful as it fulfilled its purpose: quenching the dry earth, but simplicity ended with one, brilliant, sizzling stroke. Lightening seemingly wrenched violently from the sky to be wielded by gods among men. Bitter blades cut through malleable flesh and seething, pulsating rage darkened the storm front all the more as waves of cascading crimson fell haplessly to the ground, soothing the savage thirst of the ground where no rain fell, giving rise to creatures large, powerful, and resplendent.

Each stroke brought no flashes, new red, new death and each advancement of the opposition against those oaken terraces and flaming grounds brought only new pain and new determination, drummed up from gritted teeth and clenched bellies, to remain unmoved. They would not give in, they would not lose this fight. Leaves broken from their branches and trampled underfoot as the hoard marched and stomped at the battered gates told so many stories, of life, pain, suffering, death, but their cries went unheard by the enemy whose ears only caught gruff commands and vicious, malicious intent. But for each leaf fallen, another danced in the shadow of the waning moon, touching, lilting, cutting, grasping, but forever eluding those monstrous intruders.

They were strangers from within, those that stormed and battered the gates, and they paid most dearly for their traitorous actions and betrayal. Those branches which defy the trunk soon find their way to the ground, cut off from nourishment and support, and even though those limbs found their way to a corrupted, gnarled tree, the wound was already an infected gash and their strength was not enough to topple the power of the tree. Flaming victory rained down upon the enemy, dashing and singing though not without its fair loss of blaze, but before long, the tree was bathed in the delicate, gentle glow of faded battle. It was over... for now.

Welcome to Shinobi Hearts. As you can tell, we are set after Orochimaru’s assault upon Konohagakure no Sato, but what you probably may not be able to tell is that we diverge from the canon on many important points. One such point is that Sasuke has not been bitten though during the battle against the invasion of Sound, the snake man did take note of Sasuke’s prowess and skills and has such marked him for ‘convincing’, but the plot is open-ended in that respect so it has not been decided what will happen to Sasuke.

Another deviation is that during the assault, Konohagakure had a traitor within its ranks. The Bachiatari to be exact and information on them can be found in the Custom Clan Creation Board under Accepted Clans. They attacked Konoha from within and then fled to join Otogakure no Sato after the failed invasion. The current time frame is... roughly three months after the attack so people are still paranoid and rebuilding is still going on. The battle is fresh on everyone’s mind and deaths were prominent... The greatest being the Third Hokage who fell at the hands of his former student. In his place is the great Tsunade whose medical knowledge is far and known and leadership skills are beyond compare.

Beyond that, our plot is roughly correlated with the series, around the start of the fillers, and things will be open-ended except for special threads meant to spark and further along current plots. Please keep this background in mind as you function about the site... And remember that things are seldom as they appear to be. That is all and remember that the greatest asset that any shinobi can have at any time is an unflinching nerve and an unyielding determination to protect that which is dear to him.

While most shinobi are good, some shinobi try to make things harder for the others. These are shinobi who leave their villages, choosing instead to become Missing-Nin, shinobi that are hunted down by ANBU, members of an elite group who specialize in hunting down Missing-Nin. Missing-Nin sometimes become mercenaries, and sometimes they just become all-out bad guys making life harder for all around them.

The Roles of Individual Shinobi:

Shinobi are around to keep order and to accept missions. They are something like police, only they have less paperwork. They have ranks, and shinobi of different ranks must follow higher-ups, as according to the circumstances. Here is the breakdown of shinobi ranks from most powerful to least powerful.

Kage
ANBU
Juunin
Chuunin
Genin
In-Training

As an outsider, Missing-nin are hunted by all as they are renegade ninja who hold a village's secrets. The ANBU hunt them specifically. Also absent from the list are Medical Shinobi, who specifically study healing arts using chakra and handseal as well as ordinary skills to stop blood loss and the like.
